Scottie Barnes is one of the best players in the 2020 class, as he is currently ranked 5th overall by 247 Sports.
Barnes is a 6-8 versatile wing that can hurt you from anywhere on the court. He has narrowed his list down to eight teams, and yes, Kentucky is on that list.
Recently, Rivals caught up with him on the EYBL trail to ask him about his top eight schools.
The schools are Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, Miami, Florida State, Ohio State, Cal, and Oregon. Here are some of the key points from the conversation:
On what was it about those top schools that set them over everyone else:
“The relationships, the way they talked to me, and what plans they had for me.
On what he’s looking for moving forward:
“How comfortable I’ll be when I step on the campus. Who will show the most interest in me and be able for me to play my game in their system.”
Barnes has only taken an official visit to Florida State and unofficial visits to Florida and Miami. No surprise, as Florida is his home state.
This summer, he is thinking about taking visits to Kansas and Kentucky.
“I’ve only been to Kentucky one time, just to visit the school. But I’ve never really been on the campus or toured it.”
As for a final decision, Barnes wasn’t so eager to give that away.
“During the school year I’ll cut it more and more, and I plan to make a decision late next year.”
So, it looks like it will be a while until we hear where Barnes ends up. However, the fact that he wants to take a visit to Kentucky this summer is very encouraging.
If the Cats can land this top recruit, the 2020 class could be something special.
