Benny Snell has signed his first NFL contract.
On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that Snell had been signed to a four-year deal. Details of the deal are not currently available.
Snell, who was selected in the fourth round, declared for the 2019 NFL Draft after having one of the best careers any player has ever had in Lexington. He broke or tied 14 school records and holds the career marks for rushing yards (3,873), total touchdowns (48), rushing scores (48) and 100-yard games (19). He also ranks second in UK career rushing attempts (737).
Snell was also instrumental in Kentucky making three-straight bowl games after failing to make the postseason in five-straight seasons. He finished with a career record of 24-15, highlighted by a 10-3 record and Citrus Bowl victory over Penn State. That was actually the game in which Snell broke the rushing record, further cementing himself in UK lore.
As of now, Snell projects to be Pittsburgh’s third-string running back behind starter James Conner and backup Jaylen Samuels.
