Good morning Big Blue Nation! It’s the best day in May as the running of the 145th Kentucky Derby is set to go today in what will probably be a rain soaked Louisville, Kentucky.
After heavy favorite Omaha Beach was scratched due to breathing problems, the field opened up. Yesterday the favorite was Maximum Security at 9-2 but that has changed.
Either way, the spectacle will go on as the Bluegrass State takes center stage on the televisions of millions around the country. The majesty of the Twin Spires will cast their mighty shadows into living rooms across the nation.
So have fun today if you’re going to a track, a party, or just enjoying the race at home with friends and family.
Don’t forget to get some bourbon. Old Forester on the rocks is my go to.

Someone needs to tell the LHL twitter account that Master P’s son is Lil Romeo, not Romeo Langford, who is pictured with Master P.

Beautiful.
As far as Kahlil is on the basketball court, he’s long and athletic. He’s in the same mold of some of the best players we’ve had here in that he has the athleticism to impact the game offensively, yet I believe he can be a difference maker defensively.

I think John Calipari is REALLY excited to finally have Kahlil Whitney 100% on board.
Quickies
Serengeti Empress wins Oaks | WDRB- The filly led the race wire to wire and won in dominating fashion.
Kahlil Whitney signs with Kentucky | Cats Pause- According to 24/7, Whitney is the number 8 player and the top ranked small forward in the class. It’s been a while since Calipari has had a player like Whitney. He compares favorably with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist in size and motor. I think this kid is going to be a star.
Cats drop first game in series to Arkansas | UK Athletics- The Razorbacks won 5-2 as the Cats season starts to wind down.
Kentucky Derby picks | CBS- Game Winner sits as the favorite right now with Tacitus right behind him. But CBS says stay away from Tacitus!
Blazers top Nuggets in epic 4 overtime game | ESPN- This has been the must watch series of the NBA playoffs so far. Too bad the games normally don’t start until after 10 due to being on the West Coast. Jamal Murray had himself a night in the loss:

Kyrie Irving needs to deliver in Game 4 | USA Today- The Celtics dominated in Game One but since then it’s been all Bucks. Particularly it’s been all Giannis. Irving has always wanted to be the man. Well, now it’s his chance.
What’s next for Arizona and Sean Miller? | Sports Illustrated- Former bag man Christian Dawkins gave damning testimony in which he flat out said Sean Miller was paying DeAndre Ayton during his one season with the Wildcats. In all honesty, I don’t think Miller gets fired for this. Arizona won’t make the mistake Louisville made.
Sonic the Hedgehog is going to get a makeover | Indie Wire- The first preview of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie was released last week and it was a disaster of epic proportions. Fans were creeped out by the look of Sonic and his all too human teeth. So now the director of the movie is going to go back and redo all of the shots with the video game character in order to try and salvage the film. He can redo it all he wants, it’s still going to bomb.
