With the 2020 recruiting class still empty as of now, the Kentucky Wildcats staff is hard at work finding talent to fill the future of the program.
In order to do so, Kentucky’s coaches are traveling nationwide. According to Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald-Leader, assistant coach Joel Justus paid a visit to five-star point guard Daishen Nix on Thursday.
Nix is originally from Alaska but is playing his high school basketball in Las Vegas now. He is a five-star point guard who, according to 247 Sports is the 13th ranked prospect in the nation for 2020 and is the top point guard in the entire country.
Josh Gershon of 247 describes Nix as a player with “Elite vision; outstanding facilitator who is creative as a distributor.” He holds offers from the Kansas Jayhawks, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, UCLA Bruins, LSU Tigers and Washington Huskies.
With Ashton Hagans likely to enter the NBA Draft after his sophomore season and Tyrese Maxey a likely one and done player, Nix could have a chance to start for Kentucky immediately in 2020.
It’s too early in the process to see which schools have the edge, but John Calipari and the Wildcats are surely in on the five-star point guard.
