As EJ Montgomery inches toward his NBA Draft decision, he worked out with Kentucky Wildcats great Tony Delk on Friday.
Turns out, Delk got his own scoop on what direction the freshman forward may be leaning toward.
In an interview with the Lexington Herald-Leader, Delk said he thinks Montgomery will ultimately stay in the NBA Draft.
“I think he’s staying in,” Delk said. “Just from what I’ve been hearing. He’s already had a couple workouts with teams. So I guess he’s got some good reports from GMs.”
In addition, Montgomery will be holding his own pro day on Tuesday, which will likely help determine what the final decision would be.
If Delk truly believes Montgomery is staying in the draft, my guess is Montgomery is hearing good things from at least one NBA team, and he expects to hear more good things on Tuesday.
It would be a brutal loss for Kentucky, who just missed out on Jaden McDaniels and is still waiting on a decision from Nick Richards. The Wildcats are still in the hunt for Virginia Tech grad transfer Kerry Blackshear, but he looks even likelier to remain in the draft.
This could turn into a brutal couple of weeks for the 2019-20 edition of Kentucky Basketball.
