Wednesday Quickies: Jaden McDaniels to Washington Edition

The talented five-star forward announced his commitment to the Huskies

Courtside Films

We finally have a decision, and it’s not the one BBN had hoped for.

Members of the Big Blue Nation had hoped that Jaden McDaniels would shock the recruiting experts and ultimately decide to leave home and play in Lexington next season, but McDaniels put that to rest by announcing his decision via his Instagram late last night/early this morning.

This should come as little to no surprise. A few weeks ago, Kentucky was the heavy favorite, but the tide began to shift back toward Washington, as Evan Daniels and several other recruiting experts flipped their picks from Kentucky to unsure and then eventually to Washington.

But for Kentucky, the questions now linger about the frontcourt going into next season. It is no guarantee that EJ Montgomery and/or Nick Richards will be on the roster next season with both exploring professional options. Kerry Blackshear Jr. could be an option, but he too is also exploring his NBA prospects, and Kentucky will face stiff competition to land the talented Va. Tech grad transfer. Kentucky could also look to see if a 2020 recruit could reclassify to 2019.

I trust Coach Cal and the staff to figure out the frontcourt situation, but losing McDaniels still hurts.
