The Kentucky softball team is hosting an opening Regional in the NCAA Tournament. They started the tournament off in style as the Cats defeated Toledo 7-2 in the opening game of the tournament.

They fell behind 0-2 early but stormed back to win. They will take on Virginia Tech today at noon. The winner of the game will advance to play in the Regional Final while the loser will play at 5:00 PM this evening to face the winner of Illinois vs. Toledo.

Make it out to the park if you can to cheer on the ladies!

Tweets of the Day

I was on the radio yesterday from 3-6 on ESPN 680 and had a great time. The big guy in the right corner (yeah I know we’re all big) is former UK offensive lineman Justin Jefferies. He joined me for the final two hours and told some fun stories about the Rich Brooks era at UK. More on that in a bit. I’m the guy looking into the camera like a goofball.

And the follow up to that....

Yikes. Prayers for Tyreke Evans. Hopefully he gets the help he needs in his life.

Quickies

Xavier Peters may be eligible as a freshman immediately | Cats Pause- Vince Marrow made a guest appearance on KSR yesterday and one of the nuggets he dropped was that FSU transfer Xavier Peters could be eligible to play immediately. This would be a HUGE boost for Kentucky’s defensive line. Marrow had some high praise for Peters.

Vince Marrow was not a fan of Bobby Petrino | Chat Sports- Marrow was in a chatty mood yesterday and he made it very clear that he was not a fan of Bobby Petrino or his staff. He even alluded that Petrino may have used race as a negative recruiting tactic against Kentucky. Petrino is a scumbag on another level.

Cats get walloped by number 2 Vanderbilt | UK Athletics- The Commodores are outright SEC champs thanks to a win over UK. The Cats still have a chance for an SEC tournament bid although it’s not likely it will happen.

During the second hour of the radio show yesterday I was joined by Jordan Jeffries and Jon Hale. Jeffries and I discussed UK football and Hale, the Courier-Journal UK beat writer, joined me from the NBA Combine. He had some very interesting things to say about the futures of EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards. He also talked about the strange saga of Jaden McDaniels and the chances the Cats land Kerry Blackshear if he opts out of the draft.

It’s an hour of radio well worth your time.

Memphis and Penny overtake UK and Cal in latest recruiting rankings | ESPN- Penny Hardaway is on a roll with the Memphis Tigers as he landed 5 star forward Precious Achiuwa yesterday. Penny has a stacked class but can he win with them?

Indeed.

Why the Bucks can and will beat the Warriors | CBS- The Bucks absolutely demolished the Raptors last night. They’re about as complete of a team as there is left in the playoffs. Can they beat the Warriors? That’ll be tough but it doesn’t hurt to have the favorite for the NBA on their team.

Brooks Koepka has historic round, Tiger Woods done | Sporting News- Tiger Woods won’t be following his Masters Championship with a PGA Championship. His weekend is over as he finished +5 yesterday. On the flipside, Brooks Koepka shot a historically low round and now sits number one on the leaderboard at -12.

Nine replacements for John Beilein | USA Today- Brad Stevens and Billy Donovan are at the top of the list. Last time I checked both were still employed as NBA coaches. One candidate not mentioned: Rick Pitino.

John Wick 3 set to dethrone Avengers: End Game | Variety- The action film starring Keanu Reeves is kicking butt and taking names at the box office. It’s blowing past industry expectations and will be the first movie to overtake the latest Avengers movie.

I know a lot of people had issues with the latest episode of Game of Thrones. I’m not one of them. In fact, I liked it and it made sense. If you want to debate with me, meet me in the Comments section.

One thing we can all agree on is how badass this video of Daenerys Stormborn wreaking havoc on Kings Landing from the back of Drogon to the soundtrack of For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica.
