Kentucky lands Florida State transfer Xavier Peters

Transfer Yahtzee!

@xavierpeters22

That was fast.

After leaving the Florida State Seminoles earlier this week, Xavier Peters is now transferring to Kentucky, according to Steve Wiltfong. Peters took an unofficial visit to Kentucky today, which apparently helped seal the deal.

Peters has since confirmed the news on Twitter:

Peters had entered his name in the transfer portal in December, only to pull out and remain in Tallahassee for spring football. But in the end, the former four-star recruit decided where Lexington was where he really wanted to be.

Peters only appeared in two games for Florida State this season, so he is eligible for a redshirt. He’d be a redshirt freshman for the 2019 season, but unless he gets a waiver from the NCAA, he’ll have to sit out until he’s a redshirt sophomore in 2020

Even so, this is a major score for Mark Stoops and his staff, as Peters was a highly-touted recruit in the Class of 2018. He was committed to Kentucky for a while before ultimately flipping to Florida State.
