The recruitment of Jaden McDaniels is about to end, and there’s a real chance he makes his college decision today.
It’s become a battle between the Kentucky Wildcats and Washington Huskies. Both teams have gotten buzz in recent days after it appeared Kentucky was the runaway favorite to land the five-star forward out of Seattle.
It’s been one of the odder recruitments of the 2019 cycle, as McDaniels wasn’t focused on his recruitment until his high school season ended. That, along with waiting to see what other recruits may do and get a feel for who’s staying and leaving for the NBA Draft, is partly why a decision was put off until May.
Washington was long viewed as the favorite, but Kentucky seemingly took command over the last month and appeared on the verge of landing his commitment until momentum swung back in favor of the Huskies this week.
Today is the deadline for the early signing period, but McDaniels is expected to sign financial aid paperwork with whatever school he picks. So, he could announce his decision today or wait several more weeks.
As far as recruiting buzz, as of Wednesday afternoon, no one has made a new prediction at Rivals or 247 Sports.
One thing is for sure: No one should be surprised at what McDaniels does today, whether it’s picking Kentucky, Washington, or delaying the decision to a later date.
That said, who do you think ultimately wins out?
Who will land Jaden McDaniels’ commitment?
