With Jeremy Roach surprising everyone and deciding earlier than intended, and picking Duke no less, John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats are now focusing more on Sharife Cooper, the No. 19 ranked player in the class of 2020.
According to Zack Geohagan of KSR, Cooper said this weekend that Kentucky is coming on strong for him and that they have had constant contact with each other.
“They’ve [Kentucky] been coming a lot. They show their face a lot,” Cooper said. “They’ve been to all the games. It’s really picking up with them. They show a lot of interest.”
Cooper is, seemingly, down to Kentucky and Auburn for his choices, and the Tigers ar actually favored to land the five-star point guard at his very moment.
Cooper even threw in an interesting note that him and AAU teammate BJ Boston talk about teaming up college.
“We talk about that [teaming up] all the time,” Cooper said. “It’s really the best fit. You know, he’s gotta make the best decision for himself. And if that’s playing where I go, then I feel like we’re gonna be good.”
Boston is considered a Duke lean, but him and Cooper both have Kentucky and Auburn on their final lists. So if the two do, in fact, team up, it’s looking like it will be at one of those two schools, as Duke has not had any contact with Cooper.
If Calipari and Kentucky can find a way to bring in Cooper and Boston for an official visit together, I have no doubt that, that might seal the deal on a package deal with these two.
