The Kentucky Wildcats have a stronger pipeline of NBA talent than any other program in college basketball. So it comes as no surprise that rumors are surfacing involving the names of two former Cats in a blockbuster trade.
Ian Begley of SNY TV is reporting that the Pelicans have been covertly collecting information about Kevin Knox of the New York Knicks.
The Knicks have obviously been entertaining the idea of trading for Anthony Davis for some time now. Packaging an impressive young player like Kevin Knox with a first-round draft pick could be enticing enough for the Pelicans organization to part ways with Davis, who publicly demanded a trade back in January.
Kevin Knox had an excellent rookie campaign and only saw himself get better as the season progressed. NBA GM’s will really value a player with the potential that Knox has shown in his limited professional career. He averaged 12.8 points on 34% shooting for an awful Knicks team that finished the year with a 17-65 record, which was good for last in the Eastern Conference.
The Knicks need a transcendent player like Anthony Davis to propel them to a title contender. They also have one of the best chances to secure the #1 pick in Tuesday’s NBA draft lottery. So in a matter of weeks, the Knicks could completely turn-around what is one of the worst runs in the storied organization’s history.
It would also be nice to see Kevin Knox placed into a better situation for himself to showcase his skill set. This will be an interesting storyline for the Big Blue Nation to follow.
What do you think about this potential trade?
