Though the 2019 national champion hasn’t even been crowned yet, the folks in Vegas are already hard at work setting the odds for next year’s national championship.
Monday, Caesars Palace released their national championship odds and to no surprise, Kentucky’s odds were quite high at 8/1.
In fact, the 8/1 odds are tied for second best only behind the Virginia Cavaliers, who will play for the 2019 crown tonight.
The Cats are tied with the Duke Blue Devils for second best while Michigan State checks in close behind at 12/1 and the 2018 national champion Villanova Wildcats come in at 15/1.
As for the SEC, the team with the next highest odds behind Kentucky is Auburn, who is fresh off a trip to the Final Four. The Tigers come in with 20/1 odds, while Tennessee is close behind at 25/1.
All of these odds need to be taken with a grain of salt, as there’s still plenty of recruits on the market, injuries that will undoubtedly occur and late moves on the coaching carousel. But it is always a welcome sight to see Kentucky considered as a national championship contender.
