2 Cats projected in first 2 rounds of NFL Draft

The list of Cats in the NFL is going to get longer after this year’s draft.

The NFL Draft is right around the corner, starting on Thursday, April 25th. This year’s draft should see several Kentucky Wildcats hear their names called. The only question is when they will be selected.

Now that the draft is so close, mock drafts are getting more and more attention. They are also becoming more accurate. In the most recent edition of their new mock draft, Mel Kiper and Todd McShay predicted the first two rounds on ESPN+, and they have two Cats projected in the first two rounds.

The first Wildcat on the list is none other than Josh Allen, who is projected to go 3rd overall to the New York Jets. Allen has been projected as high as No. 2 in recent months, but it is looking like the Jets may be his landing spot after all.

Kiper: “Even after splashing cash in free agency, the Jets have a hole at edge rusher. Allen would help immediately”

McShay: “Watch for the Jets to trade back with a team in search of a quarterback. That’s what I’d do here, if possible. If they don’t, it’s a tougher call, but Allen fits this defense”

Lonnie Johnson Jr is the other Cat on the list, and he is projected to go 54th overall to the Houston Texans.

Kevin Johnson is gone, and new Texan Bradley Roby is a slot guy, so Johnson would help replenish the secondary,” Kiper said of Lonnie Johnson.

With the draft three weeks out, more Cats will be looking to rise in the projections and increase their draft stock. Check out Kiper and McShay’s entire slate of draft picks here.
