The Nike EYBL is taking place in Atlanta this weekend, and there are several top recruits taking part, particularly in the 2020 class. So now that they have turned most of their focus to the rising high school seniors, you know that the Kentucky Wildcats coaching staff is well represented.
John Calipari, Tony Barbee, Joel Justus and Kenny Payne are all in Atlanta right now. Early on Friday, both Calipari and Barbee were locked in a matchup that included top Kentucky targets RJ Hampton and Cade Cunningham. There is a lot of buzz that Hampton could reclassify to the 2019 class, but he has said he will not consider that until the EYBL summer season is finished.
Speaking of reclassification, Kenny Payne spent the afternoon watching 2020 big man N’Faly Dante, who has also been rumored to join the 2019 class. Kentucky is considered a strong contender to land Dante, alongside LSU. And depending on how this Kerry Blackshear situation shakes out, his recruitment could into a very important one.
Later in the day, Calipari and Payne went over to check out another center in the 2020 class, Cliff Omoruyi. Omoruyi received an offer from Kentucky earlier this month, and has been a teammate of future Wildcat Kahlil Whitney.
Barbee and Justus were spotted watching 2021 recruit Terrence Clarke, who has yet to receive an offer from Kentucky.
Calipari would also get to see Jalen Green, who some think is the best player in 2020. This is shaping up to be a Kentucky vs. Memphis battle.
According to Jake Weingarten, Kentucky has a new five-star target:
Kentucky’s John Calipari checking out top-ranked junior Jalen Green tonight, also being told they will get first look at five-star freshmen Dior Johnson.#LivePeriod

Dior Johnson is a five-star Class of 2020 point guard who plays at Findlay Prep. He’s ranked 16th overall in his class by ESPN.
