Scottie Barnes discusses his new list and recruitment

His final decision is a long way off, but Barnes is working through the recruiting process.

In the recruiting world, Scottie Barnes, who is the No. 4 overall player in the 2020 class, is down to eight remaining schools: California, Kentucky, Oregon, Duke, Kansas, Florida State, Ohio State, and Miami.

If Coach Cal can land Barnes, then we will see a guy that gives it his all when he is on the floor and he just wants to win. Corey Evans of Rivals.com caught up with Barnes to talk about his recruitment and about the remaining teams on his list.

“What leads me is my drive and I just really like to play basketball. It doesn’t matter where I have to go; I am still going to play hard whether it is at LA Fitness or wherever,” he said. “I am a very passionate player and someone that wants to win, helps their teammates throughout the game and just brings the intensity.”

Barnes was asked about each school, and he knows exactly what Kentucky brings to the table.

“Get there and be a one-and-done. Their coach (John Calipari) is going to be really hard on you and I see how he is hard on his guys and wants them to win”

So, what is next in this process for Barnes? He plans on taking some visits of his own soon.

“I am going to take an official visit to Kansas soon and probably going to go to Miami pretty soon, unofficially”.

Not only that, but Barnes is watching where other elite recruits in his class are going because he wants to join a good class.

“I talk to some. I have a good friendship with a lot of the guys in my class and we are really close,” he said. “We really like each other so there is a chance. I would need a point guard and a big that can stretch the floor a little, too.”

Barnes has no plans as of now to announce where he is going, but he will most likely be cutting his list down after he finishes his AAU season in July.
