John Calipari has been a busy man on the recruiting trail.
Since the season ended, Calipari has been constantly on the move to meet with and/or watch prospective recruits in the 2019 and 2020 classes.
When it comes to RJ Hampton, it’s unclear what class Kentucky is still hoping to get him in. After all, the 2020 guard and consensus top-10 recruit is strongly considering a move into the 2019 class. If that’s the case, it’s hard to see him picking Kentucky with Ashton Hagans, Immanuel Quickley and Tyrese Maxey already in the backcourt.
But that isn’t stopping Calipari from continuing to pursue Hampton, as the two will meet on Wednesday, according to Corey Evans.
As of now, the Kansas Jayhawks and Memphis Tigers are in the best position if Hampton moves into 2019. But if he stays in 2020, then Kentucky is in far greater shaper, assuming that at least two of Quickley, Maxey and Hagans enter the NBA Draft after next season.
Whatever the case may be, it’s good to see Calipari isn’t tossing in the towel with this elite guard.
