Kentucky Wildcats Morning Quickies: Finding Players Edition

Kentucky has been at the top of the recruiting rankings for years, but this year is turning out to be a little more nail-biting than usual.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen of the Big Blue Nation, and welcome to the Tuesday Morning Quickies.

Now that the draft early-entry deadline has passed and we are waiting to see if one of the “waters testers” such as Nick Richards and EJ Montgomery decide to return, a quick view of Kentucky’s recruiting situation looks less favorable than it has in years in many ways.

Duke has virtually locked up the No. 1 class for the fourth year in a row, and Kentucky is currently sitting 3rd behind Duke and Arizona. Jaden McDaniels, who is widely anticipated to stay out west, is the last remaining five star on Kentucky’s offer sheet.

So there are a few chips yet to fall, and although UK will again be talented, it may be the graduate transfers that make the ultimate difference as to where UK will be come next fall. Right now, the Wildcats need shooting guards and big men. Can they retain or get enough?

Tough to say at this point.
