The college basketball season is officially over after a great championship game in which Virginia took down Texas Tech in overtime. It was Virginia’s first championship, and it was arguably the best comeback year we will ever see after they became the first 1 seed to lose to a 16 seed the previous year.

While it is sad that we won’t see college hoops until October, we can officially start talking about next season. With that, some early odds to win the national title are in and they’re extremely favorable towards the Kentucky Wildcats.

In fact, BetOnline has Kentucky favored to win the title next season:

Westgate SuperBook has Kentucky and the Virginia Cavaliers as co-favorites to win it all next season with Duke and Michigan State right behind them:

  • Virginia: 7-1
  • Kentucky: 7-1
  • Duke: 8-1
  • Michigan State: 8-1
  • Michigan: 12-1
  • North Carolina: 14-1
  • Villanova: 14-1
  • Gonzaga: 14-1
  • Arizona: 20-1
  • Kansas: 20-1
  • Louisville: 20-1
  • Oregon: 20-1
  • Mississippi State: 30-1
  • Tennessee: 30-1
  • Auburn: 30-1
  • Texas Tech: 30-1
  • Florida State: 40-1
  • Houston: 40-1
  • Texas: 40-1
  • Marquette: 50-1

Again, the season just ended, and many NBA Draft decisions won’t be made until late May, so all of these odds are expected to change drastically once the season gets closer and then a bunch more when actual play begins. However, it is encouraging to see Kentucky top the odds considering what the Cats are bringing in next year.

Kentucky is currently ranked second in the country for the 2019 recruiting class, according to 247. That, along with the fact that the Cats will more than likely see Ashton Hagans, EJ Montgomery, Nick Richards, Immanuel Quickley, Jemarl Baker, and possibly one more addition, the team will be loaded with talent.

Things are setting up to be another fun year in Lexington next season ,and it looks like many oddsmakers agree.
