This has nothing to do with the Kentucky Wildcats. Sorry. Sue me.

It’s the premier of the final season of Game of Thrones. Fans like me have been waiting years for this moment in anticipation of the climax to one of the greatest cultural phenomenons in the history of television.

And for me, it may be the only closure that a book reader will get as show creator/author George R.R. Martin continues to drag his feet on finishing the damn book series.

Here are a couple of primers to get you ready for tonight if you haven’t watched the entire series through like I have:

Rolling Stone- Everything you need to get ready for season 8.

USA Today- Special food and drink items to purchase for your premier party! (I bought my For the Throne Ale last night)

Telegraph- How to watch and episode length.

The Ringer- Who will win the Throne?

OK, back to your regularly scheduled UK sports news.

P.S. Please vote on the poll at the end of the Quickies. Seven Blessings to all.

Tweets of the Day

All indications are pointing to Matthew Hurt joining the Blue Devils but John Calipari isn’t going down without a fight. It’s been a while since he beat Coach K on a recruit and this would be a good one to win.

Michigan State debuted a new color combo for their football uniforms and the internet went wild.

Tiger is wearing red at the Masters on Sunday. Must watch TV.

As I watching the Spring Game on Friday night, I kept thinking to myself that Kentucky’s offensive line gets bigger every new season.

Quickies

4 star receiver looks to be headed to UK | Cats Pause- Kalil Branham decommitted from Michigan following his official visit to Kentucky’s Spring Game. All the momentum is with Mark Stoops.

The NFL Draft gives football fans reason for encouragement | Lexington Herald Leader- Kentucky is going to have six or seven players drafted to the NFL in a few weeks and that will bolster the program’s reputation as a place that can get you to the next level. Recruiting has been going extremely well and should get a boost.

Recapping weekend’s SEC Spring Games | Saturday’s Down South- The author of this particular article liked Mark Stoops’ honesty in regards to his team’s performance on Friday night:

“Today was really the most sloppy day we’ve had. … We’re looking for good, hard-nosed competitive football, but it was sloppy,” Stoops told ESPN’s Tom Luginbill following Friday night’s spring game.

Mark Stoops knows following up last year’s success with more success is paramount to the continued rise of the program. Everyone is expecting a major dip this season so he has to keep his guys on edge to ensure that doesn’t happen.

LSU evens softball series | UK Athletics- The Tigers took Game 2 yesterday in Baton Rouge. The #23 Cats have a chance to get a series over the #5 team in the country. They play at 2:00 PM.

76ers drop game one to Nets | CBS- Philly doesn’t have much room for error and their major weaknesses were on display last night against the Nets. And was a player actually on his cell phone during the game? Gasp!

Top seeds have rough start to the playoffs | Sporting News- The Warriors were the only high seeded team that looked like they are going to contend for a championship as the others struggled or lost.

Win probabilities for the Masters | USA Today- Leder Francesco Molinari has a 40% chance probability but Tiger Woods is right behind him at 16%.
