Saturday Quickies: Spring Game Recap Edition

Football Cats light up the scoreboard, will the Cats have the nation’s best back court, and more!

NCAA Football: Citrus Bowl-Kentucky vs Penn State Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, Big Blue Nation and Happy Weekend!

It was a good feeling as I sat down yesterday evening to watch some Kentucky Wildcats football in the annual Spring Game. Mark Stoops flipped the head coaching keys over to Eddie Gran and Brad White. While they coached, Stoops walked around with a huge grin on his face.

And why not smile?

He’s coming off of a 10 win season with a Citrus Bowl trophy, and in a few weeks he’s going to watch a number of his former players get drafted to the NFL.

What he saw on the field had to make him feel pretty good as well.

The offense looks stacked as Terry Wilson was efficient, AJ Rose showed how capable he is at following the footsteps of Benny Snell, and Lynn Bowden may be the most exciting player in the SEC this upcoming season.

All in all it was a fun night but it’s easy to get caught up in the gaudy offense. Remember that the defensive side of the ball was deleted and there are many questions to be answered.

Tweets of the Day

That’s a pretty sight. I would expect that Governor’s Cup trophy to remain in Lexington for at least one more season.

Walk the walk.

I thought it was every girl’s dream to have her marriage proposal in the middle of Kentucky’s spring game!

I think the return of Immanuel Quickley is a bigger deal that some are making it out to be.

Cats could have nation’s top back court | Cats Pause- The Wildcats are LOADED with elite guards next season as Ashton Hagans and Immanuel Quickley are set to return for their sophomore seasons. Kentucky commit Tyrese Maxey finished with eight points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Softball team takes opener at No. 5 LSU | UK Athletics- It was a big win for the number 23 Cats as they started off a series in Baton Rouge against one of the nation’s top teams.

Bat Cats still on the struggle bus | UK Athletics- The Cats are an abysmal 2-11 in the SEC and are three games away from being under .500. They lost 8-2 in Oxford yesterday. Nick Mingione Year Two has been a disaster.
