The Kentucky Wildcats continued their eight-game road trip with a non-conference pit stop in Nashville as they battled the Lipscomb Bisons.
There, the Cats picked up their fifth road win of the season by defeating Lipscomb by a score of 6-2.
Offensively the Cats were held scoreless by Bisons starter Adam Stewart for four innings but were finally able to push runs across in the top of the fifth inning as Alex Rodriguez hit a two-run double to put the Cats up 2-0.
Lipscomb would cut the lead in half in the bottom half of the fifth after Cade Sorrells hit a solo home chasing starter Dillon Marsh out of the game, but Cole Ayers was able to come in from the bullpen and hold the Kentucky lead at 2-1.
The lead wouldn’t stick for long; as the Bisons tied the game on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth.
With the game tied at two heading into the 8th, the Cats rallied. Breydon Daniel scored on an error to put Kentucky up 3-2, and then the red hot Jaren Shelby broke the game wide open with a three-run home run to put the Cats up 6-2. Shelby’s home run was his third in the past four games.

The four run lead proved to be more than enough as Daniel Harper and Carson Coleman shutout the Bisons in the final two frames to clinch the win.
With the win Kentucky improved to 18-15 on the season.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Oxford to take on the No. 10 Ole Miss Rebels in an SEC clash that will conclude their eight-game road trip. All three games can be watched on SEC Plus and heard on the UK Sports Radio Network.
