The deal is done. John Calipari isn’t leaving the University of Kentucky anytime soon.
Not longer after news broke that UK had offered Calipari a lifetime contract, it was announced that Calipari and the school had agreed to said contract.
“We can confirm that the University of Kentucky has agreed to terms on a long-term contract with Coach Calipari to finish his career at Kentucky,” said a UK spokesman.
Cal also confirmed the news on his call-in show:

“It has nothing to do with the other stuff...people call every year. They presented it to me and I appreciate it.”
Calipari has annually had his Kentucky Wildcats among the nation’s elite, so it only made sense to make sure he doesn’t leave until he’s ready to retire.
Having just finished his 10th season in Lexington, Calipari has led UK to eight Sweet 16s, seven Elite Eights, four Final Fours and one national title, marking one of the greatest decades in Kentucky Basketball’s long and storied tradition.
And you can bet Calipari will once again have UK among the nation’s best come next season.
