UK Sports Network to air ‘Beyond the Bench’ special on Wildcats’ win at Mississippi State

On Saturday, the UK Sports Network, in partnership with WKYT, will air an exclusive behind-the-scenes television special of the Kentucky Wildcats’ road trip to Mississippi State from earlier this season.

The special is called “Beyond the Bench: On the Road with Kentucky Basketball.” It will air Saturday at 7 pm EST on WKYT.

WKYT and reporter Sam Dick were granted insider access to follow along the Cats during their road trip to Starkville for the Feb. 9 game against Mississippi State. The Cats would go on to score e 71-67 victory over the Bulldogs.

“As I told Sam when we were doing the special, we try to make every road trip as routine as possible to prepare our kids,” UK head coach John Calipari said in a press release. “What we maybe take for granted is how much preparation we put into each game and how focused our kids have to be for each and every game, especially when you’re everyone’s Super Bowl. When WKYT and the UK Sports Network approached us about doing this, I thought this might be a neat deal to show our fans what we do week in and week out in the SEC.”

The special will give us an inside look at everything that goes into making of a UK road trip, including the team flight, team meals, shootaround, equipment managers prepping, locker-room access, interviews with Calipari, and more.
