Wednesday Quickies: McDonald’s Game Edition

Fans will get a chance to see two future Wildcats in action tonight

High School Basketball: McDonald’s High School All American Portrait Day Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

While Kentucky is fully in NCAA Tournament mode planning for its Sweet 16 matchup with Houston on Friday, two future Wildcats (and hopefully a couple more) are participating in the McDonald’s All-American Game festivities in Atlanta this week.

The game, which takes place tonight, will feature Kentucky signee Tyrese Maxey and Kahlil Whitney, who has committed to John Calipari and Kentucky. Additionally, Kentucky’s two top targets in the 2019 class, Matthew Hurt and Jaden McDaniels, will also be playing.

The actual game usually doesn’t reveal a whole lot since it is an exhibition, but the practices usually draw quite a bit of attention and reports have been positive out of practices about how Maxey and Whitney have looked. Whitney participated in the Powerade Jam Fest on Monday night in the dunk contest, and he and Maxey have been working together on the court quite a bit.

Hopefully Maxey and Whitney have developed even more chemistry playing together this week and are able to sway Hurt and McDaniels to join what is setting up to be a really fun and exciting team in Lexington next year.

The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 or the WatchESPN app. Make sure to tune in to see some future Cats in action.
