Will PJ Washington play in the Sweet 16?

The mystery of PJ could linger all the way into Friday before Kentucky faces Houston.

The question that is on everyone’s mind is will we get to see PJ Washington play in the Sweet 16?

It was reported last week that PJ had hurt his foot in the final minutes of the SEC Tournament semifinal against Tennessee. Kentucky is calling it a sprained left foot. We also know that he went through various x-rays and an MRI, and they all came up negative.

As the weekend moved forward and he didn’t play in either game, we learned that PJ is now in a hard cast and moving about with the use of a scooter.

Kentucky managed to win both tournament games without PJ. The first one against Abilene Christian was a breeze, but the second against a talented Wofford team was extremely tough without Kentucky’s best player.

Now that the weekend is over, John Calipari said that they plan to take PJ’s cast off on either Tuesday or Wednesday and reevaluate from there. Until then, it’s going to be a guessing game for everyone.

And even after the cast comes off, it may remain a mystery right up until PJ comes into the arena Friday night when the Kentucky Wildcats take on the Houston Cougars.
