The Kentucky Wildcats begin their NCAA Tournament run tonight when they take on the 15-seed Abilene Christian University.
Kentucky is a heavy favorite in the game and is projected to win, but the main story remains PJ Washington and his foot injury. Yesterday, John Calipari revealed that PJ sprained his foot in the Tennessee game and has went through the process of x-rays and MRIs to further evaluate the damage, all of which yielded positive results.
Calipari said Washington wants to play tonight, but we’re still waiting to see if he will give it a run or if he will sit out and get a little extra rest as Kentucky tries to hold off an Abilene Christian squad looking to pull off one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Tournament history.
If Washington can’t give it a go, Kentucky could see more small-ball lineups with Keldon Johnson at the four or hopefully Nick Richards or EJ Montgomery can step up their play and fill in.
Either way, this is a game Kentucky should take care of business and prepare for either Wofford or Seton Hall in the next round.
Today marks the beginning of four of the most fun days of the year for sports fans, so buckle up and enjoy!
Tweets of the Day
Before I go to bed, let me just say this: I’m coaching at the Univ. of Kentucky. In my opinion, there is no better job in the world to coach basketball. My plan and my desire is to retire at Kentucky. I think the university feels the same as I do and we’ve talked openly about it.
