It’s going to a tough atmosphere this afternoon in Knoxville and the Tennessee Volunteers have revenge on the mind as they are ready to pay the Kentucky Wildcats back for a 17 point beatdown in Rupp Arena only a few weeks ago.
Much has been made about whether or not Grant Williams is afraid of PJ Washington or not but be assured there will be no fear in the Vols today.
The good news is outside of a loss at Alabama, Kentucky has been terrific in true road games this season. For whatever reason, the Cats really seem to thrive in that environment.
Tip is set for 2:00 PM on CBS.

Surely Reid Travis isn’t coming back today. Right?

Ashton Hagans previews UK vs UT and his match up against Jordan Bone https://t.co/BkmrZlzwMG

We talk a lot about the match ups with the bigs, but Ashton Hagans vs. Jordan Bone is huge as well. I wonder which Ashton shows up today?
Quickies
Cats understand the challenge in Knoxville | UK Athletics- For the most part this team has been wise beyond its years this season. And I hope that trend continues today in most likely their toughest game of the season.
Cats read for round 2 | WDRB- 86-69 was the final score in the first round but that was with a healthy Reid Travis who was huge at keeping Grant Williams in check. Can EJ Montgomery or Nick Richards do the same if Travis can’t go?
College basketball picks | CBS- The guys over at CBS like the Vols 3-2 in their picks which is understandable. But another win against a top ten team would likely seal the deal for the Cats and a one seed.
Rick Barnes thinks UK is good with/without Reid Travis | Cats Pause- I think so too but they’re much better with him.
Bledsoe wins big on and off the court | ESPN- Former Cat Eric Bledsoe had a big night. He dropped 31 points to beat Lebron James and the Lakers. He also agreed with the Bucks on a four year $70 million extension. Must be nice!
UK baseball rallies for another win | UK Athletics- The Cats scored nine runs in the final two at bats to beat Canisius 10-2. That brings their record to 6-3 on the season so far. They play again today at Kentucky Proud Park at 12:00 PM.
Benny Snell runs the 40 at the combine | Cats Pause- Benny Snell is known more for his downhill running ability than his breakaway speed. Still, NFL scouts won’t be impressed than his less than stellar 40 yard dash.
ESPN picks the Vols | ESPN- These picks aren’t split as the ESPN writers all like Tennessee. Again, I completely get it as to why they’re picking Tennessee. Which would make a win even greater that it would have been.
Abbey Cheek breaks RBI record | UK Athletics- The UK softball team wins another run rule game, this time over St. Louis, 10-0. And in the process Abbey Cheek became the all time leader in RBI at UK with 161.
As usual I will take to the radio as soon as the Cats vs. Vols game is over to give the fans a breakdown of the game, John Calipari’s press conference, and I’ll take phone calls.
