The #4 Kentucky Wildcats are down in Knoxville to take on the #7 Tennessee Volunteers.
This will be the second matchup between two of the SEC’s and the nation’s best teams. Just a mere two weeks ago, the then-#5 Wildcats obliterated the then-#1 Volunteers in Rupp Arena. So, this game in Knoxville is going to be a game of revenge for the Volunteers, who have had some struggles as of late.
The Volunteers are led by two of the most elite players the SEC has to offer. Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield are the two key factors to Tennessee’s success. If the Wildcats can keep them just a bit off of their game, like they were able to do in Lexington, the Wildcats can roll out of Thompson-Boling Arena with a win.
However, missing Reid Travis and with this being a road game in one of the toughest environments the NCAA has to offer, it’s going to take a pretty solid game for the Wildcats to come out on top.
Right now, both PJ Washington and Tyler Herro have found their strides, and it’s proving difficult for other teams to completely shut them both down. Collectively, the Wildcats have gotten really good at finding someone to step up if others struggle. It’s been proven that the Wildcats have what it takes to beat the Volunteers, but this is going to be a game that pushes the young Cats and they will have to respond well to the adversity.
And when playing in Knoxville, there will be a harsh, excited crowd, and a hungry Tennessee team ready to hand the Wildcats the loss.
