The Kentucky Wildcats completely dominated the Alabama Crimson Tide last night in the Quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament. This afternoon at 3:00 PM on ESPN, they will face the Tennessee Volunteers for the third time this season.
The series is split and both teams own a blowout win over the other. But Tennessee’s win came when the Cats were without Reir Travis. He returned last night and looked 100%. He had eight points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. His defense and presence in the middle is vital in combating Grant Williams.
The winner of this game will assuredly get a one seed in the NCAA Tournament when the committee makes their selections on Sunday. For the Cats, it may mean being the number two overall one seed and playing in Louisville.
A lot is on the line in this game and I don’t think we will see another blowout, one way or the other.

The confidence of both Nick Richards and EJ Montgomery must be skyhigh after that game. That’ll be huge today.

Pick ‘em.
Quickies
Kentucky takes first step toward a five-pete | WDRB- Yes, that’s right, Five SEC Tournament titles in a row if Kentucky wins over the next two days. But this one would be sweeter than most if they can knock off the Vols today.
Tennessee players still playing the respect card | Cats Pause- The Vols are still saying the Cats don’t respect them even though they are coming off of a 19 point win. Whatever they gotta do to get hyped, I guess.
5 star wing choses Kentucky | Indy Star- John Calipari won on and off the court last night as Keion Brooks chose to play at UK during halftime of the game. Brooks is a 6-7 true small forward, really the first Calipari has nabbed since MKG. All they Cats need is a big man and the class will be filled.
With the edition of Brooks, the 2019 class moves up to number two in the country.
Rhyne Howard named freshman of the year | UK Athletics- The UK Hoops star was given this honor by ESPNw.
Billy Kennedy out at Texas A&M | CBS- The Aggies made a move despite Kennedy’s success there. Although it’s never been a basketball centric program, I guess they expect more. I think they made this move with the knowledge that they’re going to land Buzz Williams whenever Virginia Tech’s season ends.
Florida State upsets Virginia | Sporting News- The Seminoles will face the Blue Devils tonight in the ACC championship game. They upset the Cavaliers, no strangers to postseason face planting.
Immanuel Quickley emerging at the right time for UK | Cats Pause- As Ashton Hagans continues to struggle, Immanuel Quickley has emerged as a great option off the bench for Calipari. Quickley’s three point shooting and defense have made him and integral part of this team.
UK Softball notches big win over Mississippi State | UK Athletics- Katie Reed knocked in six runs as the Cats win 8-0 over Mississippi State. She tied the record for most RBI in a game at UK.
UNLV fires coach after three seasons | USA Today- Marvin Menzies took over a dead program and left it not as dead, but left it dead enough. The only reason I’m posting this is because Rick Pitino’s name is being rumored as a replacement.
Jason Ence and I will be back on the ESPN 680 A Sea of Blue Postgame Show right after the game. We will have Cal sound, your calls, and more!
