The SEC Tournament really kicks into gear when the quarterfinal round begins.
After two days of seeing mostly the bottom feeders, the top four seeds make their debuts today. The LSU Tigers won the SEC’s regular-season title, but the Tennessee Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats are the favorites entering tournament play.
But first, they must advance past the quarterfinals. Tennessee plays a dangerous Mississippi State bulldogs team, while Kentucky looks for revenge vs. an Alabama Crimson Tide team that beat them in Tuscaloosa this year.
If Kentucky or Tennessee wins the trophy in Nashville, they’ll be a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
LSU isn’t quite as strong of a contender, but they can make a good case for a 1 seed if they win the league tournament.
The South Carolina Gamecocks, who narrowly won the No. 4 seed, will face an Auburn Tigers team still in the hunt for a top-five seed in the NCAA Tournament.
