Kentucky teases return of Reid Travis

Getting Reid Travis back would be a game-changer for Kentucky in the SEC Tournament.

The Kentucky Wildcats are in Nashville preparing for their first SEC Tournament game.

On Friday night, the Cats open postseason play against either the Alabama Crimson Tide or Ole Miss Rebels. But the real focus right now in Big Blue Nation is the return of Reid Travis.

After missing three weeks of action with a sprained right knee, the senior forward is trending toward a return during the SEC Tournament. Head coach John Calipari laid out the plan for a return on Monday. Then, several Wildcats revealed Travis is practicing with the team on Tuesday.

Now, Kentucky is teasing a return of Travis with a picture of him practicing with the team on Thursday:

There’s still no guarantee Travis plays this weekend, but if nothing else, it looks like he’ll be good to go for the NCAA Tournament, which is what matters the most.

Of course, having Travis back this weekend will be crucial to winning the SEC Tournament and securing a 1 seed in the Big Dance. If he does play, expect it to be for 15-20 minutes a game at most. Kentucky isn’t going to give Travis a normal workload for as many as three-straight games coming off a long layoff.
