Decision day for Keion Brooks is approaching quickly. The 6-7 La Lumiere product from Indiana is deciding between the Kentucky Wildcats, Indiana Hoosiers, and the Michigan State Spartans on Friday.
Brooks was seen as a long-time Indiana lean, especially when Kentucky was pretty much out of the recruitment. But John Calipari clawed his way back in and is now on the verge of landing Brooks and stealing him away from the Hoosier state.
Brooks was sold on playing for his home state for quite some time, but now with the Hoosiers in dumpster-fire mode, Brooks is looking at Kentucky and his path to the NBA more than being a hometown hero.
Brooks took a surprise unofficial visit to Rupp Arena for the first Kentucky-Tennessee game and watched the Wildcats lay a beatdown on the No. 1 team in the country. All of this while Indiana was in the middle of a dumpster fire of a season with their fans wanting head coach Archie Miller gone after just two seasons.
The crystal ball predictions for Brooks are trending in the Cats’ favor, with 57% of the vote to the Hoosiers’ 21%. Jerry Meyer from 247 thinks Brooks is headed to Lexington.
If Kentucky were to land Keion Brooks on Friday, that would give the Wildcats their fourth commit of the class, with a few more still remaining that John Calipari really wants (Jaden McDaniels, Matthew Hurt.) The commitment of Brooks would give Kentucky three small forward recruits with Brooks, Khalil Whitney, and Dontaie Allen.
