Kentucky will enter the SEC Tournament as an underdog to win it all in Nashville, though ever so slightly.
My Bookie has released odds for who will win the tournament, and Kentucky (+200) was narrowly edged out by Tennessee (+190). There’s a high probability the winner of this year’s tournament will come from those two teams. If both teams win their Friday games, they’ll meet Saturday in the semifinal round with not only an SEC title game berth at stake, but possibly a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
LSU, the team who won the regular-season title, is tied with Auburn for the third-best odds (+420). That’s because the Tigers are without head coach Will Wade and freshman guard Javonte Smart. Wade is suspended indefinitely, and Smart is being held out pending an eligibility review. They also may be without Naz Reid, who missed the win over Vanderbilt with an injury.
The Wildcats will play the winner of No. 7 seed Ole Miss vs. No. 10 seed Alabama on Friday at 7 pm EST. They are seeking their fifth-straight tournament title and seventh in John Calipari’s 10 seasons at Kentucky. They’re also hoping to solidify a 1 seed in the Big Dance and possibly in the South Region, where the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight games will be played in Louisville.
