The first sneak peak of what to expect from the NCAA Tournament is coming out on Saturday, and the Kentucky Wildcats will likely be a 1 or a 2 seed.
The NCAA March Madness Bracket Preview airs Saturday at 12:30 pm EST. and they will announce the top 16 seeds as it stands today.
This is the third-straight year that the NCAA has done this. It’s meant to generate early excitement into the tournament, while at the same time giving some insight as to where the selection committee’s heads are at.
The chair of the committee, Bernard Muir, held a teleconference on Wednesday to go over what to expect for the show. He also touched on the new NET rankings and how they’ll be viewed when making the selections.
“To be quite honest with you, I’m not looking at the RPI any more,” said Muir. “We as a committee have decided the RPI is kind of yesterday’s news. Now we have this new feature called the NET. That’s what we’re plugged into.”
This is some big time news as the RPI used to be the go to metric for the Tournament. As it stands, the Cats are 5th in the NET rankings. So, thinks are looking good for this team.
