The Georgia Bulldogs remain the heavy favorite for Anthony Edwards, and that will be the case leading into his Monday decision.
The Florida State Seminoles were once viewed as the heavy favorite for Edwards, and even as Georgia gained momentum, there was some thought that the Noles could sway Edwards back toward them with a visit to Tallahassee upcoming.
Yeah, not so much, as Edwards has canceled the visit, according to Evan Daniels.
That all but eliminates the Noles from having a chance Monday, even though Edwards is keeping them on his list. I’m not sure there’s ever been a recruit who was set to visit a school, canceled the visit, then committed to said school the very next week (though it’s probably happened because nothing is impossible in high school recruiting).
Georgia is who will everyone is picking and likely will be going into Monday. I would say Kentucky has a better shot that Florida State now, but there’s really no difference between finishing second or third.
The only good thing about this is Kentucky was the last school Edwards officially visited, though he’s unofficially visited Georgia since then.
This is going to be another tough pill for John Calipari and his staff to stomach, as they will miss out on yet another elite recruit, something they’ve struggled to land in three straight recruiting classes. They have gotten some good ones in that span, but they keep missing on those top 3-5 recruits that Calipari got in the earlier years of his tenure in Lexington.
