There’s no longer any doubt that the Georgia Bulldogs are the heavy favorite to land Anthony Edwards.
The five-star guard and No. 1 overall recruit at 247 Sports will announce his college decision next Monday, and all indications to this point have been it will either be Georgia or the Florida State Seminoles. It’s the Noles who will be hosting Edwards for his final visit this weekend, but Georgia is the school getting all of the buzz now.
That includes recruiting guru Evan Daniels predicting Georgia for Edwards. Daniels had originally picked Florida State, but once Edwards started taking visits, he changed it to ‘foggy.’
Elsewhere, the last four predictions for Edwards at Rivals have been in favor of Georgia. Unless something unforeseen happens this week, it looks like Kentucky will miss out on yet another elite recruit.
The good news is they’ll have Immanuel Quickley and Tyrese Maxey in the backcourt next season with Kahlil Whitney likely on the wing. There’s also a chance that Ashton Hagans or Tyler Herro could return for a sophomore season, though recent buzz suggests they’re leading toward the NBA Draft.
There’s always a chance someone else from 2020 (RJ Hampton?) or Kentucky pursues a grad transfer, but regardless, it looks like Edwards won’t be part of the equation next season.
