For the second time in a week, Anthony Edwards has canceled a visit.
247 Sports’ Evan Daniels reports that Edwards has canceled his Monday visit with the North Carolina Tar Heels. Edwards also canceled a visit with the Kansas Jayhawks this past week, and they were ultimately cut from consideration.
The real news is Daniels reports that a decision from Edwards is expected within the month. That probably means North Carolina is out of the running, which makes sense. The Georgia Bulldogs and Florida State Seminoles are believed to be the front-runners with Kentucky catching up.
However, if Edwards makes a decision in February, it is hard to see it being in favor of Kentucky, who could return Ashton Hagans, Tyler Herro and Immanuel Quickley to join Tyrese Maxey in what would be a loaded backcourt, making it hard for even a guy like Edwards to come in and have the kind of role he likely wants.
Sure, Hagans and/or Herro could ultimately go pro, but it is hard to imagine such a decision will be made in February or even early March.
And it doesn’t help that Georgia and Florida State are getting the most buzz right now. It is probably safe to say Edwards won’t pick Kentucky if a decision is made within the next month.
Then again, you can never count out John Calipari. And frankly, Edwards is going to be a stud wherever he goes, loaded backcourt or not.
