It took some time but the Kentucky Wildcats are where we thought they would be before the season started. They are ranked in the top four in the country by all of the rankings systems and they are now in control of being a one seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Cats have an opportunity this week to make an emphatic statement following their dominant win over the Auburn Tigers. They have the Arkansas Razorbacks coming into Lexington on Tuesday night, and while the Hogs aren’t great, Mike Anderson always has his teams ready to play dirty whenever they meet up with Kentucky.
And then on Saturday the Cats will travel to Knoxville where they have an opportunity to deliver a knockout blow to the Tennessee Volunteers and their hope for a one seed.
Everyone is starting to believe in the potential of this team, it would be a shame to stump their tow this week.

The only part of the Oscars I watched last night was the Lady GaGa/Bradley Cooper performance. It was really good and really awkward for his date.
Quickies
PJ Washington ranked as a top five college basketball player | Cats Pause- One of the main reasons why Kentucky is in position for a number one seed has been the play of PJ Washington. He joins Ja Morant, Zion Williamson Brandon Clarke, and Marcus Howard as the five best players in the country.
Cats top LSU on Senior Day | UK Athletics- It was an emotional yet victorious day for the UK Hoops team as they said farewell to four seniors but ended the home season on a good note by defeating LSU 57-52.
Cats jump Tennessee in latest bracketology | USA Today- This projection has the Cats as a one seed in the Midwest Region with North Carolina as the two, Houston as the three, and Wisconsin (PUKE) as the four.
Monday top 25 and 1 | CBS- LOL
Games to watch over the final two weeks | ESPN- There is still a lot to be played for as Kentucky, North Carolina, and possibly Michigan are all in play for a one seed. Here is what they say about Kentucky vs. Tennessee:
Tennessee seemed to be in great shape a couple weeks ago, but the Volunteers are now locked in a three-way tie for first place in the SEC, and their lack of high-level wins outside of Gonzaga is more noticeable. Kentucky likely has to win in Knoxville or win the SEC tournament to remain a 1-seed in Joe Lunardi’s latest bracket (and the top four in the power rankings).
Brett McMurphy has Cats bowling in 2019 | Cats Pause- Although he doesn’t have the Cats repeating the success of 2018, McMurphy does see them playing in a fourth consecutive bowl game.
Cats clobbered, swept by Texas Tech | UK Athletics- There’s a reason why the Red Raiders are number three in the country. In the series finale, they clobbered the Cats 19-4 as UK falls to 3-3 after a three game sweep in Lubbock.
Bozich has Cats standing pat | WDRB- Rick Bozich has Kentucky remaining fourth in the country behind Gonzaga, Duke, and Virginia. It will be interesting to see how much credence the pollsters give to a Zion-less Duke team. My guess is they will give them PLENTY of rope.
Oscar winner Mahershala Ali was a basketball star at St. Mary’s | Bleacher Report- Mr. Ali had one helluva night as he became the first African American to take home multiple acting trophies and his turn as Detective Wayne Hays in HBO’s True Detective came to a triumphant end last night. Ali was once a basketball star at St. Mary’s before this acting thing took off.
