After going through a bit of a dry spell, the Kentucky Wildcats are gaining steam on the recruiting trail.
Over the last few weeks, Kentucky has jumped ahead in the recruitments of five-star forwards Keion Brooks and Isaiah Todd. Now, John Calipari is hoping that continues with B.J. Boston, who just scored an offer from Kentucky, according to Rivals reporter Corey Evans.
The offer came with Boston, ranked No. 9 overall in 2020 by 247 Sports Composite, taking an unofficial visit to Kentucky this weekend. He also just got to watch the Wildcats demolish the Auburn Tigers.
Speaking of, Auburn and Duke have been getting a lot of buzz in this recruitment. Both schools have predictions from Rivals analysts, while the Blue Devils lead the 247 Crystal Ball with four predictions, including ones from Jerry Meyer and Andrew Slater.
But that was before Boston visited Lexington and scored a scholarship offer. Let’s see how things change now.
Boston is a 6-6, 175-pound shooting guard from Norcross, GA. He has shot up in the recruiting rankings for the 2020 class and currently sits at No. 11 in the 247 Sports rankings and No. 7 at both ESPN and Rivals. He was slated to visit for what turned into a demolition of the Tennessee Volunteers, but weather forced him to reschedule for this weekend.
Good thing he still got to see peak Kentucky Basketball in Rupp Arena.
Many schools have already offered Boston, including the Blue Devils, Tigers, Florida Gators, Kansas Jayhawks, UCLA Bruins, Texas Longhorns and Alabama Crimson Tide, among others. Thanks to new NCAA rules allowing high school juniors to take official visits beginning in the fall, Boston has already visited Duke, Alabama, Auburn, and Florida. We should expect to hear of him taking an official visit to Lexington before he makes his college decision.
Here are some highlights of Boston in action:
