The Tennessee Volunteers are coming in to Rupp Arena to put their perfect record in the SEC on the line. The Kentucky Wildcats are stinging from losing to the LSU Tigers on Tuesday night and now they have an opportunity to put it behind them.
The Vols are the number one team in the country and they have the perfect mix of veteran leadership and talent. Rick Barnes has done an amazing job at UT and now he is looking to take the next step for his program by make it one of the most elite in the country.
Kentucky has always ruled the SEC and now Tennessee is the upstart team looking to overtake them. Losing to LSU put UK behind the eight ball in regards to winning the conference and securing a number one seed in the tournament.
A win today would be huge.

Quickies
Keion Brooks visiting Kentucky for the Tennessee game | Cats Pause- This will be the fourth visit for the elite forward from Indiana. He will take an unofficial visit to Michigan State and the Hoosiers seem to be the favorites right now. Calipari will have to convince Brooks that he can play him and fellow wing Kahlil Whitney together.
This is just round one of a heavyweight matchup | WDRB- Kentucky still has to travel to Knoxville to play the Vols in a few weeks and the two could meet up again in the SEC tournament. Last season the Cats went 1-2 in the same scenario, winning in the SEC title game.
Experts picks | CBS- Per his usual Gary Parrish is picking against Kentucky while the rest of the fellas over at CBS like the Cats to win at home today. UK is the favorite in Vegas.
Today’s result will say a lot about the Cats | UK Athletics- John Calipari doesn’t lose many at home and I’m not sure he’s ever lost back-to-back games at Rupp Arena. Can his team battle back from a disappointing loss earlier this week?
ESPN experts give the sweep to the Vols | ESPN- The guys over at the World Wide Network don’t have as much faith in the Cats as do the guys over at CBS.
Bat Cats kickoff season with win | UK Athletics- The Cats were down 4-2 and then scored six runs in the final two innings to beat Austin Peay 8-4. Three JUCO transfers homered as the Cats rallied back.
Rachel Lawson reaches 400 wins | UK Athletics- The women’s softball team run ruled both Hofstra and Utah yesterday as Rachel Lawson became the first women’s softball coach in the history of the program to reach that milestone. She’s done an amazing job.
Vols vs. Cats preview | Rocky Top Talk- The Cats better be ready for a dog fight today against Tennessee because that’s exactly what they’re going to get.
Chris Mack has to make sure Duke doesn’t beat Louisville twice | WDRB- While Tuesday night was disappointing for the Cats, it was even more so for the Louisville Cardinal faithful as they watched their team blow a 23 point lead over the Duke Blue Devils. Clemson is in town today and Mack has to make sure his team isn’t still reeling.
After the game tonight, don’t forget to tune into the UK Postgame show on ESPN 680. Here’s how to listen!
