As the days roll on, it’s looking more and more like Kentucky’s best chance of adding to its 2019 class is reclassification.
Good thing Isaiah Todd is a prime candidate to do so, and the Wildcats appear to be in good shape for him.
247 Sports recruiting guru Evan Daniels just logged a prediction in favor of Kentucky for the five-star forward out of North Carolina.
The 6-10, 200-pound Todd is a Virginia native who led John Marshall to a state title in 2017-18 as a sophomore. However, he transferred to Trinity Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina for his junior year. That’s led to the Tar Heels getting a lot of buzz in this recruitment, but it seems Kentucky has made up a lot of ground.
In an August blog post with USA Today, Todd talked briefly about Kentucky’s increasing interest.
“On the recruiting side, Kentucky has been reaching out consistently, Maryland has too, Oklahoma State reaches out consistently, Texas, Florida offered recently and I’ve had a lot of other schools reaching out.” Todd wrote.
Currently, Rivals, ESPN and 247 Sports have Todd ranked as a top-20 recruit in 2020. ESPN actually has him ranked No. 8 overall. All three services list him as a power forward. He already has offers from the North Carolina Tar Heels, Maryland Terrapins, Villanova Wildcats, Virginia Cavaliers and Kansas Jayhawks among others.
Kentucky has yet to officially offer Todd, but that’s more because John Calipari likes to do so on visits. Perhaps Todd will make it down to Lexington this weekend when the NO. 1 Tennessee Volunteers come to town, though that’s pure speculation for the time being.
