Weeks in the regular season don’t get much bigger than the one Kentucky is set to tip-off tonight.
The No. 5 Kentucky Wildcats are set to host the two teams they’re battling for SEC regular-season supremacy in their two upcoming games.
Today, Kentucky will host No. 19 LSU. The Tigers enter Tuesday with a 19-4 overall record and 9-1 conference record. This puts them in a deadlock for second place in the conference with Kentucky.
As well as the Tigers have played this season, they have yet to do much against ranked teams. They’re just 1-2 against ranked teams this season, losing to Florida State and Houston and beating an Ole Miss team no longer ranked.
Following their clash with the Tigers, the Wildcats will host the top team in the entire country in the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers as College GameDay returns to Lexington for the second time in four weeks.
The Vols will take on South Carolina at home Wednesday night before heading for Lexington. But as of now, Tennessee is 22-1 overall and 10-0 in the conference. Their lone loss this season came to a Kansas team that was at full health.
Tennessee swept the regular season series from Kentucky a year ago, but the Cats got the last laugh as they defeated Tennessee in the SEC Tournament title game.
Neither game is going to be easy. Kentucky needs to play even better than they have throughout their current 10-game winning streak.
