Auburn Tigers transfer Joey Gatewood has pledged his commitment to Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats.
Gatewood was a top-50 player in the class of 2018 and committed to Auburn in 2015, only to enter the portal after losing the starting job to Bo Nix this season. Gatewood was the No. 1 athlete in the country according to 247 Sports.
In a massive get for Kentucky, the quarterback room is looking like one of the best it has ever been in Lexington with both Terry Wilson and Gatewood under center.
No word yet on if Gatewood and Kentucky will apply for an immediate play waiver, much like Xavier Peters, but if he does, we could see a QB battle for the ages with Gatewood and Terry Touchdown, along with Lexington Catholic QB Beau Allen.
This is a big pickup, folks. Stoops, Gran, and Marrow have outdone themselves.
Now, here are the best Twitter reactions to the big news:

Joey Gatewood is the highest rated UK QB commitment since Tim Couch

I asked @TheAthletic’s Auburn beat writer and my bud @JFergusonAU a couple days ago if Gatewood is a good fit at Kentucky. In short, absolutely. Huge, strong QB and good, rough runner who’ll thrive behind a good run-blocking OL (the Cats’ forte). A work in progress as a passer. https://t.co/IT2brP55Uo

Gatewood will not count towards UK's 2020 recruiting class, but if he did h would have had a major impact in the team rankings. No. 62 in #Rivals100, No. 3 dual-threat.

Third highest-ranked under Stoops (Justin Rogers--this month--, Landon Young), fourth overall (Micah Johnson).

Cats will have three former top-50 overall recruits on next year’s roster:
CB Kelvin Joseph — No. 42 in 2018, LSU transfer
DT Justin Rogers — No. 44 in 2020 from Michigan
QB Joey Gatewood — No. 49 in 2018, Auburn transfer
Vince Marrow is getting extremely good at locking down these transfers #BBN pic.twitter.com/TRpcZnWIxb
