There hadn’t been an overtime game between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Louisville Cardinals since 1983.
The W went to the Cards in that affair. But things were different on Saturday night as the Cats won 78-70 behind 27 points from Tyrese Maxey, a clutch double-double from Nick Richards, and 18 points from Immanuel Quickley.
Jason Ence and Terry Brown joined me for the UK Postgame Show on ESPN 680. The phone lines were full, the fans were happy, the beer was flowing, and a good time was had by all.
Here is what we discussed:
- John Calipari really does own Louisville, doesn’t he?
- Tyrese Maxey comes out when the lights are brightest
- Nick Richards did his most important work while avoiding a fifth foul in overtime
- Immanuel Quickley had 18 points but his defense on Jordan Nowra was equally important
- Will Louisville ever win this game again?
- John Calipari’s full presser
I’ll be back on Tuesday with a pregame and postgame show for the Belk Bowl. Join me in the fun,
