The Kentucky Wildcats are going through some growing pains after their disappointing performance Wednesday night.
However, I think it is safe to say most people still see this as a tournament team.
That is not the case in the new CBS Bracketology.
In their updated field of 68, CBS doesn’t include the Cats in the field. In fact, Kentucky is listed as one of the first four teams out of the field.
The reason is that Kentucky’s NET ranking is currently sitting at 74 which is three spots higher than their previous ranking of 77.
Nonetheless, Michigan State not being what everyone thought, Kentucky’s loss to Evansville and then a loss to their next best opponent (Utah), is all working against UK at the moment.
Luckily, the Cats have a golden opportunity to erase these losses if they can get big time wins over Ohio State and Louisville in their next two games.
Also, the SEC schedule is going to do Kentucky a lot of favors as they get all the better teams in the conference twice, which will give them several opportunities to build a solid resume before Selection Sunday.
