Tra Wilkins enters transfer portal

Wilkins had a host of major scholarship offers before he picked Kentucky.

With the regular season concluding, we’ll now start to hear of players entering the transfer portal to find a new home.

For Kentucky, the first such player to do so is linebacker Tra Wilkins, who announced today that he will be entering the transfer portal.

Wilkins, a Class of 2019 recruit who hails from Stephenson High School in Georgia, was a highly-regarded linebacker with an offer sheet that included the Alabama, Louisville, Ole Miss, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State among many others.

Despite the deep offer sheet, Wilkins was only a three-star recruit and the 1,108th-best player in the Class of 2019. He redshirted this year and would have challenged for playing time in 2020 with Kash Daniel departing.

However, linebacker is a very deep position for the Wildcats, which likely made it easier for Wilkins to decide to transfer. Hopefully, he lands in a good situation and shows why he had so many major offers coming out of high school.
