It appears Walker Wood’s UK career is ending before it ever really began.
According to CatsPause reporter Josh Edwards, Wood has entered the transfer portal.
Wood was a three-star 2017 recruit coming out of high school and threw for 3,000+ yards and 30 touchdowns during his senior year at Lafayette. He was viewed as an athlete that could eventually move to a different position in college, but multiple injuries kept him sidelined for much of his first two years in Lexington.
As a redshirt sophomore this season, Wood only appeared in two games that were blowouts. He completed 2/3 passes for 15 yards while rushing three times for 22 yards. Despite multiple injuries at quarterback, Mark Stoops and Eddie Gran never gave Wood a chance to show if he was worthy of the starting gig.
With Kentucky set to return Terry Wilson, Sawyer Smith, Amani Gilmore and Nik Scalzo at quarterback next season along the addition of Beau Allen and Joey Gatewood, we should probably expect another quarterback transfer to happen before next season begins.
