The Kentucky Wildcats have signed their highest-rated QB since Tim Couch.

On National Signing Day, Joey Gatewood has made it official that he is transferring from Auburn and will be heading to Lexington. He will enroll at the school in January.

Gatewood announced on December 5th via Twitter, that he would be transferring to Kentucky and now, it is official.

The four-star dual-threat QB was the 36th overall player in the ESPN 300 rankings coming out of high school. He was ranked #49 by 247sports and #62 by Rivals. At Auburn, he saw very little action in 2019 but completed 5/7 passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns in that playing time.

He is expected to have to sit out next season unless he is granted a transfer waiver to get immediate eligibility.

If not, Kentucky will still have another year with Terry Wilson before likely turning the job over to Gatewood in 2021.

Fans have to love the depth that Mark Stoops has built at the QB position setting it up very well for the future.
