Tre White, although just a sophomore in high school, committed to Kansas this past June. Since then, the 2022 recruit has been hounded with questions about his commitment, potentially one reason for his stunning decommitment announcement.
“I was getting so many questions in interviews about Kansas and just any college and about reclassifying and decommitting. It was just so much that I just wanted to have fun with my guys and play basketball,” White told 247 Sports’ Evan Daniels.
Since decommitting, Daniels reported that Kentucky has reached out to White. Daniels also noted that White isn’t not sure if reclassifying up to 2021 is even a possibility.
A 6-foot-5 five-star small forward, White is the 10th-best player in the nation and the third-best small forward via 247 Sports.
Currently finishing his last three years of high school at Cornerstone Christian, White’s potential commitment will be something followed closely not only by Kentucky, but also LSU and Arkansas, two other schools that have already reached out to the star forward.
While he’s yet to fully mature his skill set, White’s high-end athleticism has already been seen.
As for the Wildcats, they have yet to see a commitment of the Class of 2022, although they’ll likely have them rolling in as one of the nation’s top programs. At the very least, White should consider making a visit to Lexington.
He’s a top-tier recruit, and the Wildcats will certainly have interest. For now, he’s just looking to enhance his game while finishing out high school, and you certainly can’t blame him for that.
