The Kentucky Wildcats open the 2019-20 season with a win over the Michigan State Spartans, 69-62, snapping a two game losing skid in the Champions Classic.
I have two words fo you: Tyrese Maxey. Maxey introduced himself to the college basketball world going full on scorched earth in the final five minutes of the game. A full-on take over. 26 points and five boards for Maxey on the night.
The Kentucky defense held steady as well, forcing turnovers and missed shots and Ashton Hagans and Tyrese Maxey are the anchors of that UK defense.
Your Cats are now ranked No. 1 in the nation. We’ll see you Friday as Kentucky returns to Rupp to take on Eastern Kentucky.
Here’s what social media had to say:

Didn't take long for Tyrese Maxey to establish himself as Kentucky's go-to-guy. He's been terrific tonight. Showed why he was arguably the top NBA prospect playing at MSG heading into the night.
